VLC & Apple remote/media buttons

I was wondering if there was any app i could use to get my apple remote and the buttons on my mac (F7-F9) to associate with VLC rather than iTunes. Thanks in advance.
 
iRedLight and Sofa Control are both great apps that allow you to customize the buttons on your remote.
