I have my 2010 Macbook Pro hooked up to a new Sony Bravia TV. I watch a lot of movies and TV shows. Everything works great... until i close the lid of my mac or it goes to sleep. If i am watching a TV show that is 1hr long and 1/2 way thru the show i have to do something, so i close my Mac. When i come back and try to resume watching the show from where i left off there is NO audio. The video keeps playing fine, but there is no audio. The only way for me to get audio back again is to quit out of VLC completely and then open it again. Its such a pain b/c then i have to manually find out where i left off each time.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Well... one suggestion that might work is to open up your system preferences --> sound, and then switch the output to internal, then back to your TV speakers.
