I have a Mac Mini Late 2009 version and a PowerMac Dual 1.8ghz G5 connected to my LCD Tv. I want to stream 720p video from my mini using VLC to my G5. I know that the G5 sputters when playing 720p from its hard drive so I'm wondering how I could get a presentable image and sound to it I'f I'm using my Mini as a server. Assume that my network can handle it - I'm getting about 7-8MBps throughput. I'm using UDP and am trying various codec container combinations but everything looks choppy. I thought transcoding created a smaller file footprint (which sacrificed some resolution for ease of streaming) but everything looks like crap or is very pixelated. Any help would be appreciated.
