Forgive my imprecision, but QT is apparently the media engine beneath iTunes. QT will playback protected video/audio so long as the computer has been authorized via iTunes. This should not be a TOS violation.
I noticed that SongBird will use QT to playback pAAC files, which is great if you wish to use SongBird. I've found it to be seamless.
I'm wondering if there's an equivalent way to get VLC to playback protected video files via QT. I've got everything else in VLC working great.
