VLC. Remember last stop position.

Hello guys, I have both VLC and mplayerx on mac. I mostly use mplayerx because of the feature of remembering last stop position. Recently, I went thru some threads, which boosted VLC as superior comparatively. So I really want to give it a try. But it would be best to figure out a way to make it remember last position.
I did find an extension for adding up this feature, but the reviews are mixed with many reports of failure. I tried it and had no luck. I appreciate your help with the problem. Thanks in advance.

I'm hoping this thread isn't too old to dig up?

Has anyone got a solution for this? Basically same position as OP. I hate how sluggish window resizing has become on MPlayerX in recent updates.
