Playing videos across the network works fine with most players, mplayer, niceplayer, quicktime etc, but playback with vlc stutters every few seconds.
I have looked through the settings and played with a few options but I can not figure out what is causing this. I have completely removed the program and installed the latest version but the problem still persists.
Any help gratefully received.

Seems to work fine for me. What type of network do you have and what speed is it? Also what type of file are you trying to play? Is that much other network traffic at the same time?

Yeah, mine stutters too. I was playing a 720p .mkv and it was stuttering ... but small avis and regular TV shows and what not don't stutter, just the high res stuff.

This is with my Mac Pro plugged into my Airport Extreme 802.11n version, and my MacBook going through 802.11n wireless.

When I plug my MacBook in, it doesn't stutter. I think 802.11n just isn't fast enough.
