Whenever I open VLC, it opens that playlist window. I don't want to see the playlist window.

For example, I have turned off window decorations so that it looks clean. However, opening a video opens the decoration-free window AND the playlist window, which is annoying.

Is there no way to surprise that playlist window?

Why use vlc? If you add one of the many codec packs to osx QuickTime will play anything you throw at it. Just curious?

Firstly, that doesn't answer my question.

Secondly, it's not true. I have Flip4Mac and that other popular one installed, and Quicktime doesn't play half the videos I try open. What other codec packs are there? You say "one of many".
