Calling all VM Fusion/bootcamp experts.
I've built a Windows bootcamp partition on one SATA drive formatted with NTFS and formatted another SATA drive with NTFS for my Windows data files.
I like to point the My Documents folder to my data partition so if I need to reinstall Windows, my data is left intact and I then I just need to repoint My Docs to the same location etc.
I've noticed that when I running Bootcamp under fusion, this presents a problem. Fusion expects the My Docs folder to be in the default location and thus it fails to install VMware tools because of this - it cannot access the 2nd drive, let's say it's the D drive.
If I repoint My Docs back to default (C
then I can install VMware tools. I've noticed the only way I can access the 2nd drive when running under fusion is to map it as a network drive.
Ok, so this allows me to put my data in there but when I run Windows under bootcamp only I cannot see the mapped drive as it is VMware shared folder that doesn't run when Windows isn't running via Fusion.
Anyone got any ideas pls?
thanks
