I recently updated VMware to 2.0 and decided I wanted to see how well Windows XP 64-bit edition ran. I was pleased to see a speedy install and had the VMware tools installed in no time. After seeing how well Windows ran while OS X just idled, I wanted to put my 2.2 GHz MBP to the test. I hooked up an external display and had WinXP 64 run full screen on one monitor and OS X running on the other. I was blown away at the performance on both sides. On OS X, I had iTunes, Safari, VMWare Fusion, text edit, and Adium all running. On Windows, I had AVG running, IE 6, and Windows Update running. Both OS's ran seamlessly... So seamless that It felt exactly like I had two different machines running!
The point of this thread was to let anyone who had thoughts of buying VMware Fusion 2.0 that it is worth the buy. It ran so well, it completely renewed my confidence in virtualization! Maybe I can toss out boot camp...
