I have osx running Mavericks. I've just purchased a workshop manual for my car comprising 2 x discs. I am unable to open the files on the discs but they all appear to have the extension .vmdk
Can anyone advise me on how to open them please?

VMDK? That's VMware's virtual disk format. You'll need VMware Fusion 6 for Mac to open those.

You are right and I do not disagree with you on the VMDK file extension.

What is strange is that the manual for his car would come in that form of file. Especially without making it very clear at the time of purchase that another third party product would be required to even use the manuals he was buying. Usually those will come in PDF format or some sort of scanned image format.

Those must be some manuals if they take up two discs.
