Thinking of changing to Parallels from VMFusion. I have a virtual machine running windows 8... will that migrate properly the latest version of Parallels?

The latest version of Parallels doesn't officially support Windows 8, but that doesn't mean it won't work. (I'm assuming you'll be using an Intel Mac. It won't work at all on Apple Silicon, but neither would VMFusion.)

You could always download Parallels and give it a try with their 14-day free trial. They also have a 30-day return policy if you do end up purchasing it and later find that it isn't working for you.

okay thanks for the info - yes it's an MacPRO 7,1 intel... have you migrated from VMFusion to Parallels before?

No migration experience, sorry, for l’m only using Parallels, both on Silicon and on Intel (MP 6,1 and 5,1). I run Windows 7, 10, and 11 with lots of apps installed with no problems.

What is wrong with Fusion when running Windows 8? Fusion has a wider support for old Windows than does Parallels, so I wouldn't be changing without a good reason.

Parallels imports VMware virtual machines very well, including not quite standard machines.
It is logical to assume that Fusion should also be successfully imported. But I have not tested this.

But old virtual machines, even with Windows XP, with old games, work successfully.
