My parents have VMware Fusion 1.1.1 and whenever I upgraded their iMac to Snow Leopard, the 1.1.1 did not work.

I did some digging and found out that 1.1.1 is not compatible with Snow Leopard. So we ordered Fusion 3.

Question is, when you upgrade does it uninstall windows? Or does it just "upgrade" the app?

Also, if it does uninstall windows, how do we back up the files if we can't boot into windows?

 Please help me! This is really important to my fathers business!

No, it should just upgrade Fusion
It won't uninstall Windows

However, you need to be sure you can go straight from 1.1.1 to 3
I would check the VMware site to see about that process to make sure

At the very least, the upgrade from 1.x to 2 was totally free and could simply be downloaded. I'm not sure if 2.x is still available to download anymore.
Upgrading from one version of VMware to another doesn't affect the Windows installation.
