When running fusion, the superdrive opens, but won't eject.

I've seen posts about this issue - anyone have an answer outside of "sleeping"
fusion in order to eject a disk from the superdrive?

You mean, when you have your Superdrive connected to your running
Windows VM, and there's a disc in it - that disc shows up in Windows,
and can be opened, but can't be ejected? I've never had that happen.
Is it a regular VM or Boot Camp partition VM?

If you're running Fusion in Single Window mode, just click on the CD icon
in the window's status bar to be able to select whether the drive is
connected to your VM or not. When not connected, Mac OS takes charge
of the drive again. I'd be surprised if you can't eject it in Mac OS. You can
also do the same thing in the "Virtual Machine">"CD/DVD" Fusion menu
selection.
