so I installed vmware fusion, and I selected my boot camp partition and hit "run" to prepare the virtual machine...

how long does this typically take? it says it may take a few mins, but it has been like 20 mins =/

if its not normal, should i force quit or would that mess it up?

It may take awhile depending on how large your Boot Camp partition is. Using Force Quit will only require having to do everything over again. I don't know what the typical time is to create a VM from a Boot Camp partition but as I said above it depends on how large it is. Twenty minutes does seem like a bit long though. You might get a better answer by visiting the VMWare Fusion forum and asking there.

Regards.

Create a VM from BootCamp? You don't create a VM from BootCamp unless I'm missing something here, Fusion creates the config file which defines the BootCamp option but that should take mere seconds. Mine too maybe 3 seconds to define and my Windows partition is 80GB.
