VMWare Power Drain

Hey there,
I had a quick question. When I run VMWare Fusion, to run my Windows XP, my battery life reduces drastically, which is I guess okay because I am running to OS at the same time.
But the weird thing is, even after I shut down, and quit VMWare, my battery life stays really low, and I have to restart the computer to fix it!!
What's wrong??
