I was on a white Macbook early last year, using VMware with 3gigs of ram. I recall one of the minor annoyances was the Macbook fans that would fire up quite a lot when I was running VMWare.

For a short stint I went back to PC but now I'm back. I invested in a Macbook Pro (base model w/2gigs of ram). I have been running VMWare all day long and I haven't heard any fans -- awesome!

Is this due to the hardware or software? I have a 4gig kit on the way; I didn't think VMWare was going to run so smoothly with 2.

If you're using one of the new Aluminium Unibody models Apple really changed the fan profiles. They don't spin up until the laptop is near 100 C.
