I'm attempting to screen share with someone over the Internet. Using these directions, I instructed her to read the VNC address at System Preferences > Sharing > Screen Sharing. However, her address is reading as vnc://her-name rather than as a numerical address. As a result, I'm unable to connect to her computer. Why would this be happening?

Those directions are useless for connecting over the internet. I know they said the directions would work over the internet, but the author is full of crap. His demo was for usage over a LAN.

There is a way to do what you want to do with "Back to my Mac" maybe, but I have never used it.

I have successfully accomplished what you want to do using "logmein" and "TeamViewer". Both are find products and both are free for personal use.
