VNC help needed

Hi, how do I get VNC to work? I was under the impression the ARD was essentially a VNC server so all I had to do was enable the ARD in sharing, make sure it was enabled in the firewall and then I'd be able to connect using a VNC client from another machine.

I'm not having much luck, I just get a socket error :?

Any help greatly appreciated
