Guys - I have remote management configured on my MAC and can connect from Windows 10 but can't from the iPhone. I have realvnc vnc viewer installed on the phone. Get this error
Either VNC server is not running, or it is using an incompatible protocol version

Thanks

Do you have Remote Management or Screen Sharing switched on? If it is Remote Management, try switching on Screen Sharing instead.

I had screen sharing turned and remote management off. I turned on the latter but it automatically checked off the former. Still same error

That's exactly what I'm using; tried using another model iPhone and same issue

Did ip on one iPhone and bonjour on the other - then it prompts for password and that's it. Oddly enough it connects fine using the w10 laptop

In the screen sharing options, the account you use on your Mac has been set for screen sharing? And on the iPhone you're using to try and connect, you're entering your Mac's login name and password?

I got it to work using VNC Lite app right now. It has a section for username and password which is not admin in my case. But realvnc viewer only prompts for password. On initial Mac setup, I didn't choose admin or administrator as my administrative login anyways (it's something else). I'll stick with vnc lite unless there is something else you suggest I try. Realvnc obviously has higher ratings on App Store

It seems the problem is realvnc not asking for a username, so it's not authenticating you properly. Try reinstalling the app again, if you still can't enter both your username and password when connecting to your Mac, you'll have to stick with VNC lite since that works for you.

I had the same issue with some VNC apps on the App Store, I don't remember what the reason was but the Screens app works really good for me!
