So, Rush Limbaugh spent the beginning of his show talking about this Vocal app for Mac he discovered that lets you control your Mac through your iPhone. Apparently, the developer's website crashed because of the traffic generated by the show. MacWorld posted an article about it today.

Well, I downloaded it for $1.99 along with the companion Mac software, and I can't get my computer (early 2008 MacBook Pro) to see my iPhone 4S. Yes, I have added it to acceptable incoming connections list on my Mac. Yes, I have restarted both devices after installation. Yes, my Mac and my iPhone are on the same WiFi network.

What else is there to do?

Here is the reply I got from the developer, who is like 17 by the way.

It sounds like an issue with your wireless network. As Vocal uses Bonjour, computers need to be able to see and talk to each other over a port that the iPhone decides to use. I recommend you try it over Personal Hotspot (turning your iPhone into a Wifi network) so you can work out exactly where the issue lies. As the issue is with Bonjour, http://www.apple.com/support/bonjour/ will also be of assistance.

This doesn't help at all. I am not buying a personal hotspot plan from AT&T for this. I am on a family member's DSL based wifi, which was a pain to set up, so that could be the issue. I will try it on my network when I get back to my place after Christmas.
