When i go to the apple site and go through the process of ordering the new iphone 3gs the voice and data plan are each $30. When i check the att site the current plan for the iphone 3g is $40 for voice and $30 for data.

I'm an existing original iphone user and currently pay $30 and $30. So it seems they have brought the price back down.

Am i missing something or is that the case?

The original iPhone was $20 for data.
So you're likely paying $40 and $20 rather than $30 and $30.

Ok. But current iphone 3g users pay $40 and $30, so this is still $10 cheaper right? If that's the case over 2 years you would save $240 plus tax, not bad.

Sounds like it, I guess. I'm on a family plan, so I'm not sure what the minimum voice plan for a single user is.

I may have read it wrong. I was looking at the data plan and it's breakdown. It actually doesn't show the voice rate. So i guess the voice plan would be the same.
