VoiceOver speaking the & symbol differently on my macbook pro.

hello everyone.
well, i just got my new macbook pro 13 base configuration. i was setting it up, and suddenly i noticed that voiceover reads the & symbol correctly on my mac mini as and, but on my macbook pro, it reads it just as it is the "andpersand" how do i fix it?
