AT&T tells me that 1minute of Skype calling is 1mb. Is this true? Talkatone doesn't work too well for me using LTE.

Sounds about right. Of course you can reset the statistics yourself and then make some calls to test it.

The faster the Internet, the more data Skype will use. So it will use more data per minute for calls on LTE compared to say 3G.

According to Skype, it's 3MB/minute for Skype-Skype calls (calls between users) and 1MB/minute between a Skype user and a landline/cell phone. This is because Skype-Skype is higher quality audio and therefore requires more bandwidth.

Even with just a voice call? That doesn't see right. Video, sure I can see that.

talkatone works great for me on my lte ipad mini and has setting on what quality (data usage) you want the calls to be.

So should I turn LTE off while using Skype or Talkatone and use 3G instead?

I doubt it, but you'll want to test it yourself to see how much data you're using.

Talkatone tells me even if I use their app and talk 24/7 I cannot get close to 300mb of used data.
