VW is taking a low cost ($33K USD)
$33k is a lot higher than the original $23k it
was reported to cost. Maybe this is a different EV than the one in the link?
Last summer I purchased a 2019 Jetta with the 1.4 Turbo, and while it is a really boring car, the fuel mileage is really good for gasoline vehicle. Using an app to track my fuel, I average 35.3 MPG, and the on board tracking is slightly higher. This is mostly city driving, with snow tires and the cold weather.
I have a feeling as the weather warms, the fuel efficiency will increase.
The Highway MPG is amazing, imo. I once got 57MPG for an all highway trip. I will add that I was deliberately driving with fuel economy in mind, and was not driving how I typically would, but still, that is amazing fuel economy for a gasoline vehicle.
Overall I have been happy with the Jetta. While the Jetta is not the most powerful car, it had a decent amount of very low-end torque. Pretty much everything else about the car is boring, but it is a really good deal for the price.
I was able to get the Jetta for less than half of what VW's I.D. will cost. I am not sure if the I.D. is going to be a more luxurious vehicle than the Jetta, but just based off of given the reported price of the I.D., I think the Jetta would be a better deal.
I'm not interested in EV's at any price point
I wouldn't mind an EV, but for me and many other people, my home isn't ideal for EV as there would not be anywhere to charge them.
