Like the title says, the silver button on the left hand side fell off one day. I luckily found the little piece. There looks to be some residue (maybe glue) where the button used to be in the slit.

anyone have this happen? can I just glue the button back on or will it just cause me problems.

Is the case cracked around the volume button cutout? The volume button is supposed to be molded bigger than the hole so it cant fall out, if it did it must be broken or the case is broken. I may actually have an extra button and maybe even a white back if you are interested. They aren't an easy repair at all though.

That was a common issue back then. It's a manufacturing defect along with the cracks in the case. Apple should replace it warranty or not. :)

even if the phone is ~2 years old? that would be great if true

this happened to my wife's old phone. I tried gluing it but did not work well. I found a place locally that fixed it for $25.
