HomePod Volume Buttons

So when I have my music playing on my Homepod Mini, I can adjust the volume with my iphone volume buttons. But after I transfer the music back to my iphone, the volume buttons no longer work unless I’m in the control center. I have to restart the phone to solve this issue. Anyone else?

I think I've had this problem once, but I don't have a solution.
