Volume change on-screen notifications

Hi
Am I alone in disliking the Yosemite / iOS 8 volume change feedback displays ?

I preferrer the old ones, which had more transparency and were less intrusive than these new ones that block what is behind the volume bar.

This is particularly annoying on iOS when I am playing games on my iPad.
