Volume Control ghostly box not appearing on screen when I change volume

I just noticed that the ghostly volume box appears before I log in to my user account and not after. Anybody have this same problem? Maybe a update bug? I have 11.2.3. Only appears at startup, not switching between users.
 
SOLVED- I checked a couple of settings, I found under the keyboard settings, the function option was ticked by mistake which changes the mode of the keyboard to functions if desired. as soon as I unticked the function, the sound ghostly icon returned. I knew it was a simple fix.
