Is it possible to get the volume keys on the Apple keyboard to control the TV speakers volume? I have my M4 Mini attached to my 65" tv and I always have to reach for the remote to adjust the volume, the keyboard keys do not work and the overlay says its not allowed.

I know it's Digital Output, but I am able to do this on an old Lenovo laptop hooked up via HDMI to the same TV, and its keyboard volume buttons work.

Have you tried?
To do this, the Mac needs to send HDMI-CEC commands to the TV. The TV must have CEC enabled. But I do not know if the Mac will send the necessary CEC commands; I’ve never tried but I suggest you try.

Yes, CEC is on. I didnt think CEC was used for volume control anyway, more like power on and input selection.

But yes, it's on and I still cannot adjust volume from my keyboard. I remember having an older PC many years ago and I had an audio receiver hooked up to the optical audio output, and I could also not adjust the volume from within windows itself or keyboard volume buttons, it was a fixed output. I got a Soundblaster sound card instead and was able to adjust the volume from windows & keyboard on the optical out port. I just wish there was an option to have fixed or variable volume output when connected via HDMI digital audio.
