my penryn mbp's volume keeps going up. after its at full volume the sound effect keeps beeping (or whatever you want to call it). When i turn the volume down it just rises right back to full and continues its noise. The speaker icon stays on my desktop, and i cant figure out what is wrong. any ideas?

Stuck key?

Is someone sitting on your Apple IR remote?

so... i figured it out. i have a lot of external stuff plugged in so after 5 restarts to no avail i decided to shut down, unplug my monitor, speakers, mouse/keyboard, etc... than i started it back up with nothing but the power cord plugged in, and it was fine.

i plugged all my externals back in & it seems to be working. hopefully next time i restart with peripherals it doesnt do it again.
thanks

thanks!

Just saying thanks since this helped me out a lot with my 15" 09 MBP. In my case the volume would go up or down one bar every 30 seconds-2 minutes. Unplugged all of my external peripherals and now it's perfectly fine.
