Volume Keyboard Shortcut

Hey everybody,

I just bought a 2012 21.5" iMac as my first Apple desktop, and the volume buttons on the bluetooth keyboard only access mission control. Is there any way I can change the keyboard shortcuts to volume up and volume down?

Uncheck System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard > Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys if it is checked.

Hmmm.. I don't see that option. When I go to System Preferences>Keyboard>Keyboard all I see is this:

Yeah, I tried that and it says that my keyboard can't be identified. I called Apple tech support and they aren't even sure what's wrong. I'm heading back to the store tomorrow to try to exchange my keyboard.

However, I just dual booted my iMac and each of the shortcut keys work on Windows 8. It's quite strange, really.
