volume keys dont work with internal speaker

hey guys!

on my new 15inch mbp the volume keys have suddenly stopped working.
i checked in system preferences that the use F1 keys as standard is not selected.
When i plugged in speakers or headphones the volume keys work as normal. But with just internal the little picture on screen comes up so the keys work but it doesnt affect the volume?

Any help thanks and has anyone else had this problem?

Have you checked that your audio output is the correct one?

I am not sure then as that was my only suggestion really, I guess restarting might help, but I am sure you've tired that.

It could be a faulty key.

thanks. i dunno why it happened! i restarted a few hours ago a few times but nothing happened? i shut it off for 15 minutes and now its working? weird. anyway thanks for the suggestions!
