volume problem on apps

i installed the ios5 on my iphone4 monday(17th) the volume on my apps will sometimes not work for example i missed a skype call because it would not ring but later in the evening it rang with an incoming call.... thinking it was just a fluke i disregarded it but it continues to happen..... one of my game apps the volume is almost none exsistent as well.... an ideas? i really depend on my skype service.....
