I just noticed this while messing around in terminal...Volumes is a subfolder of Macintosh HD, but Volumes has a Macintosh HD folder in it...which has a Volumes folder in it...

...how does this work? What's really the highest level folder?

eh for what its worth my volumes folder does not have a Macintosh HD folder in it when I ls it

as eidorian said, / is the highest directory
