I decided to ditch AT&T and go with T-mobile. I'm happy with the service since it's cheaper and in NYC the coverage is no different than any other major carrier, but I really have my eye on switching to the $30 prepaid plan and so I'm using FaceTime audio and Vonage a lot this month to see how many "real" minutes I end up using.
The call quality with Vonage is terrific even if I don't have full bars, but the problem is that more than half of the time the I can't hear the other person! I know they will have picked up and the call is connected because the label goes from "ringing" to a timer that counts up. But I cannot hear anything. I end up having to call them back from my real phone or via FaceTime Audio and they say that they could hear everything on my end.
I saw a few app reviews mention this issue. I tweeted Vonage (no response) and I emailed them but haven't heard anything back. I have tried deleting and reinstalling the app multiple times. I cannot pinpoint when it is going to behave this way or not.
Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a solution?
iPhone 5C (purchased new from T-mobile last month, iOS 7.0.4, latest Vonage app)
