its pretty straightforward to do this.
  • ubvpn is an IPSec vpn
  • use your ubit user/pass

for off-campus connections:
  • server is offcampus-vpn.buffalo.edu
  • group name is offcampus

for on-campus wireless:
  • server is oncampus-vpn.buffalo.edu
  • group name is oncampus

the shared group password ("secret") key isn't available publicly, but you can find it yourself (i don't want to post it here) by installing the ub vpn client from the ubit website and going into C:\Program Files\Cisco Systems\VPN Client\Profiles\ and opening the corresponding .pcf file in windows notepad. The password there will be encrypted (it's the long string of letters and numbers) - copy it into http://www.unix-ag.uni-kl.de/~massar/bin/cisco-decode to get the plain text to enter into your ipod.

i've only tested this with the on-campus vpn but i'm assuming it works for both.

hey dpadgett,
im trying to connect to ubvpn on vista 64 through NCP, since Cisco isn't supported.
The thing is, I can't find the group secret key, because I can't extract the pcf file from the exe.
Could you possibly pm me the key or maybe send me the pcf file?
I would appreciate it a ton.
Thanks.
