I suspect you will have to create a new VPN connection with the PPTP protocol and delete your old one. The only place I can find the option for which type of VPN connection you want is in the creation of a new connection.
This is in the Internet Connect application, File menu, New VPN Connection. The first thing it does is prompt you for which type of connection you want to set up.
