VPN won't connect

I'm using the PPTP protocol and have verified my settings are correct with my IT people, but I can't connect with VPN. Has anyone else had this problem? Solution?

I actually have a similar problem with the iPhone and my MacBook. No matter what, my work Win2000 VPN disconnects me after ~1 Min, both devices. Yet, DigiTunnel works flawlessly on my MacBook. Considering the iPhone runs OS X, the problem may reside in its PPTP implementation.
