On a Mac Pro Running 10.9.2 with a Radeon HD 5770 graphics card.
Problem is that everytime I fire up a application that consumes a lot of VRAM, the VRAM doesnt release and stays at full.
for example after working in After Effects for a while the VRAM bar in istats just doesnt go down
resulting in very very poor video performance...
this is really bugging me, im not sure if its a 10.9 related problem.
but it seems that two of my friends using an HD4000 have the same problem too.

any pointers? been searching over the web for ages and seems to be no answer....

thanks!

There are no apps, utilities or configuration changes you can do to alter how OSX handles VRAM. Its more of a device driver thing and since apple controls those, you cannot do anything about it

so how does everyone work with after effects? o_O
this is crazy...

I don't use after effects and to be honest, this is the first time I ever seen someone ask about freeing up vram, so I don't think its a wide spread issue
