VST Firewire HD Max. Capacty?

I own an old VST FW HD model FWFH14 that I am trying to upgrade the HD from 160GB ATA 100 to a Maxtor Diamond Max 21 320GB ATA100. Upon hookup, the enclosure only sees 127GB. However, when I hook the drive up to an Apricorn DriveWire USB device, it registers the full 320GB.

My hunch is that the VST device may not be capable of seeing any drives larger than 160GB? Do I need to break down and buy a new enclosure? What is your opinion? I'm using a Macbook DC 2.0Ghz. with 10.5.1

It looks like the FireWire controller doesn't have 48-bit LBA to read more then ~127 GB.

What's the capacity when the 160 GB drive is in there?
