Hi There,

I suppose this is directed to those who are seasoned in install of Windows on Mac products, more specifically new 2012 Macbook pro.

I have a moderate amount of pc experience hardware/software/networks, however this is my first mac. I recently purchased a Macbook Pro MD103LL/A with the following specs:

15" i7 2.3GHz 8GB 256GB SSD
Also has Optical drive, not retina display model.

I partitioned the hard drive to install a licensed copy of W7 utilizing boot camp assistant. Install was successful. However, Windows updates failed intermittently, I encountered the following error upon boot "Windows Failed to Install Updates", I checked event viewer to view the error log summary. The following is what came up:

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x800705b4: Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2345886).

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x800705b4: Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2345886).

The list goes on but they were Windows Update Client failures. After two failed update experiences after re-boot attempt, I re-ran boot camp Windows Support and re-installed necessary drivers etc. After this, re-boot successful w/0 errors.

So my question is, when running W7 on macbook, should you let windows update as necessary going forward or postpone them? On windows machines, I always did auto updates without (usually) any errors.

Also, has anyone noticed reduced performance in the trackpad and keystrokes on Windows after install on Mac? I am also experiencing this as well.

Thank You
