I had been using a previous model Wacom tablet on a Mac Pro 2008 when I noticed that after opening the Preview app and scrolling a bit, the stylus began to malfunction. Double click a desktop folder and it would open in slow motion. Go to select one file and it would select half the finder list. A restart would clear the problem. Eventually I just used Adobe Acrobat without any similar stylus issues. When I installed a Catalina OS patcher, the problem was gone.

Earlier this month I bought an M1 Mac Mini 16GB as well as the latest Wacom Intuos small tablet (PT-460). Everything worked fine for the past two weeks using Big Sur 11.2.x until today when I opened a pdf file in Preview and that odd behavior took hold again. The only other app open was Safari. Since it happened on two different Mac and Wacom setups, I thought the problem would have been talked about in this or another forum but I haven't found anything. If I contact Wacom they'll have me uninstalling everything and will say they know of no such issue. It's frustrating because I like the simplicity and quickness of Preview but now I'll probably have to use Acrobat again.

Any advice is appreciated.
