Wahoo!! OoW iPad Pro screen replacement is how much??

When I picked up my iPP last night, the Apple Store clerk mentioned that it was a good thing I got the AC+, since the ADH cost was still "only $49". I asked how much an OoW (Out of Warranty) screen replacement would cost for the iPP.....

He told me $599!!

Yep I saw that. Insane. I'd say apple care or some other type of coverage/credit card warranty is definitely needed.
