The Regent Street store has two of the new Pros on display (behind plastic, unfortunately, so no touching).

But I realised that the touch bar stops a good half-inch from the left edge and has top and bottom bezels too. It's not seamless like the renderings imply and in direct light is quite ugly.

This is especially annoying for the Esc key which will not be in the normal position.

Has anyone else noticed this? I ordered one yesterday but this has put a sour taste in my mouth...

Holy ****

The Human Interface Guidelines actually imply that it is an edge-to-edge display with no thick left-hand bezel:

However, surely the 'System button' could be an Esc key, and when Apple shows the Touch Bar with the Esc key it is indented:

So either:
  • There is a horrid left-hand bezel and the guideline diagram above is misleading, or
  • Apple is ignoring their own guidelines.

No that only shows the active display, without bezel.

Pretty sure it's just to make it symmetrical due to the TouchID button on the right hand side.

This is the correct answer.

Personally i would have preferred a physical escape key and then the touch bar.
Agreed, two physical keys, one for escape, and one for touchid/power. Touch strip in between.

I've just confirmed with someone who would know: there is definitely a left-hand bezel. Sucks.
