I just bought a new Mac Mini with the Thunderbolt i/o. I need a 1 or 2 TB drive and am tempted to get an Iomega MiniMax FireWire.

Should I wait until Thunderbolt drive equivalents are available? Any guesses how long that might be?

Any feedback on the Iomegas? OWC is my second choice.

Thanks!

What are you going to be using the drive for? If it is just standard storage/backup then Firewire 800(1394b) will be fine. If you will be using it as a scratch drive or project file drive for Photoshop or video editing, I'd wait for Thunderbolt.

FW800 will be fine but if you can wait I would. TB drives are not far off. Seagate sounds like its coming soon. Of course there are no guarantees.
Iomega has a spotty reliability record. See user reviews on New Egg and Amazon. Rocstor are the most reliable drives I have found but they charge more. I, and people I know have had too many customer service issues with OWC to recommend them.
