this is my first post at this site!!
i'm in australia, apple here offer a free $268 8GB ipod touch and a $130 printer if i buy any MBP before march 29th, plus i'm a uni student, can get $150 education discount, thats total $550 off on a $1599 13" entry MBP, should i buy the current one with $1050 or wait till new one comes out for whatever price it is...

I agree. It's highly doubtful the refreshed MBPs will look any different from the current ones, so nobody will be able to tell the difference, and they're great machines, so if you need one now, plus the printer and the Touch, buy and enjoy. That's a nice deal. Otherwise, wait and see.

If your usage is average and the speed is not the thing, I would go for it as that's amazing deal, 33% off.

hmm, thats a really good point. I probably just use it for IM and some school work, but then i have waited for more than 3 months for the new release, i actually will go to apple store to ask about the stuff there for suggestions, thanks!

That is very light usage so you won't notice any difference in the new ones. I would go for that deal, it sounds pretty good though BTS promo will kick off soon too so you can get new one for about the same price/deal

So, silent update on 3/30 in advance of the iPad launch that Friday?

here in AUstralia, the BTS promo finish at 29th march, thats why there is a free 8GB ipod touch

actually the printer promo finish at late april sometime, and education discount is always there, so only difference before/after Mar 29th is the AU$268 ipod touch.

just buy now, no one can be bothered waiting anymore

Didnt want to start a new thread so i thought i would ask here. Is $1700 dollars a good price for a 6 month old 17" MBP 2.8/4gigRam/500HD?

eh, what kind of condition is it in? That comp orig cost 2500. For 6 months old (pracically brand new for a mac) its not a bad deal

Buy refurbished whenever possible

Get a refurbished MBP for $200 more and get a full 1 year warranty + No possibles scratches or imperfections due to the 6months of use.

My brother was going to buy a MBP a few of weeks ago and I suggested he should wait.

Now he's angry and asking me "Ok, so WHEN should I get one? They're STILL not out. You said a couple of weeks."

I don't know what to say anymore.

What would YOU say?

You wont notice a significant performance gain between the present model and the new ones when they come out for university work(unless you are gonna be working on graphic intensive tasks.) So if you like the deal, go for it ;)
