I have been having issues with my powerbook for a while now. When my computer wakes it is soooo slooow... I can hear the hard drive making noise like it is seeking but it is in very short burst. while it is doing this everything prety much locks up (for about 3 to five minutes) then it is fine. Here is what I have done thus far.

1. Verified S.M.A.R.T and that the drive is good
2. Repaired permissions (always after installing new software)
3. Run my Daily, Weekly and Monthly maint scripts
4. Reloaded the Freakin OS
5. Removed my aftermarket memory as I thought I had a memory leak
6. Removed Swap out the old RAM and test
7. Updated to 10.4.2 then 10.4.3. then to 10.4.4 then now to 10.4.5
8. Used disk Warrior to rebuild the drive.

--> Not all in that order and many on that list multiple times... exept for reloading :)

When I have an issue with windows I go to eventid.net to analyze my error logs... is there a MAC equivalent for that?

attached is a copy of my system logs.

Thanks in advance for your help.

How much free space do you have? Try to keep at least 8GB free.

Also, do you have any peripherals installed or plugged in? Could there be a quirky third party app causing this? :)

I have 24 G free out of 74G... No perifs.... Aye aye aye... No one seems to have any recomendations... guess I will be making a trip to the genius bar :-(

Did you ever find a resolution to this problem? I'm having the exact same thing happen on my 1.0ghz PB 17" running 10.4.6.

I just ran permissions fix and all it found was some stuff with Flash and secure.log. I found mention on another forum of permissions related to the keychain but I would think if that were the root cause, it would have been caught in this check.
