Hello everybody.

I am wondering about using my old MB as some kind of home server.
Wake on Lan works nicely as long as the MB is connected to a LAN cable, sleeping, and the lid is open.

However as soon as the lid is closed the wake on LAN feature does no longer work. I guess it's a smart precaution by Apple.
Does any of you know a way to disable that?

I can't think of any reason as to why it wouldn't wake on LAN even when the lid is closed. Then again, I've experimented very little with WoL.

If you're using it as a home server, then you shouldn't need the top half of the case, right? So you could just remove it and the Mac would function as if the lid was always open.

Alternatively, you could just do what I do with my Mac media center and leave it on all the time. I sleep it from time to time, but for the most part it's always on.
