Two days ago I did a clean install of Mac OS X Lion. Tonight I let my iMac in sleep before going to bed. During the night it woke up automatically:
Code:
Aug 8 01:51:54 Dennis-Madsens-iMac kernel[0] <Debug>: Wake reason: RTC (Alarm)
Aug 8 03:40:05 Dennis-Madsens-iMac kernel[0] <Debug>: Wake reason: RTC (Alarm)
Aug 8 05:28:16 Dennis-Madsens-iMac kernel[0] <Debug>: Wake reason: RTC (Alarm)
Aug 8 07:16:27 Dennis-Madsens-iMac kernel[0] <Debug>: Wake reason: RTC (Alarm)
Aug 8 07:40:00 Dennis-Madsens-iMac kernel[0] <Debug>: Wake reason: GIGE (Network)

As you see, most of them are RTC events. I have "Wake for network access" in Energy Saver turned on, as I think, this is a usefull service. The RTC event is maybe generated by my Time Capsule?

What about the GIGE (Network) event. What can be the reason for this?

Here is the Console log for this time period:

I hope someone works out what this is or can at least explain.

OS Lion Clean Install.

Do you both have RTC (Alarm) and GIGE (Network)?

As far as I know, the RTC is the Mac itself which wakes up every 1 1/2 - 2 hour to maintain the network connection. That's ok and not longer a mysterious.

The GIGE wake reason is other devices/services trying to connect to the Mac. When I have a GIGE I have this message in the Console:

17/08/11 04.12.43,000 kernel: Ethernet [AppleBCM5701Ethernet]: Wake reason GIGE - bonjour - service connect

I'm still not sure which bonjour services that are waking up my Mac in the night. This night I had 5 of them. The only devices which are turn-on during the night on my network (extent from our iPhones and iPads) are our Netgear VVG2000 router, Apple Time Capsule and a Apple AirPort Express.
