Hello,

I just got a new 13" MBA (had the 2008 white Macbook before) and I was wondering if there is an option to wake up the MBA by opening the lid like it is with Macbook and MBP?

In order to wake it up I need to tap the space bar a few times, it also doesn't wake up with clicking the trackpad. I'm not even complaining about the few seconds it takes to function normally again, that seems to be a Lion issue and I just hope they release an update soon...

Anyway, I'd like to wake up my MBA when I open the lid, does anybody know how I can do that?

This is kinda funny. It already does wake when you open the lid, but lion is causing it to take a long time to wake. Fix will be coming out soon.

Opening the lid will wake up your MBA from sleep. Don't push anything and see if it happens within a few seconds. If it doesn't, maybe you need to take it in to the Apple Store.

Lion makes the "instant-on" feature not so instant anymore. My MBA (which used to wake up instantly, within 1 second, on Snow Leopard now takes 4-5 seconds with Lion). Hopefully they release a fix for this soon.

Gosh, seriously... you are right, it does wake up, it just takes like 30 seconds. I really hope they release a fix for that soon, it's annoying!

Thanks for you help, guys!

i just started getting a weird issue before i even installed 10.7.1

when i close the lid, and it doesn't matter if it's 5 mins or 5 hours it's been closed.. when i open it up.. i just get a black screen. the keyboard lights up, but nothing wakes the display on. the only solution is to hard reboot. :(

i'm hoping 10.7.1 fixes this...

I'm having the exact same "issue".

My Macbook Pro wakes up instantly and the screen is on as soon as the lid is opened. But my macbook air seems to take a few seconds.

It's not really a problem but kind of annoying when you're used to it waking up instantly.

Anyone having this "issue" with 10.7.2?

Yep. Same issue in 10.7.2. Takes a few seconds for the trackpad/keyboard to respond.

Mine takes 5-15 seconds to wake from sleep. It's not a big deal, but pretty annoying since most reviews I have read say it's supposed to wake from sleep in a couple seconds.

That's terrible. My friend's MBA 2010 often wakes up before I even fully finish opening the lid!

It takes around 5-10 seconds to wake from hibernation (been sleeping for over an hour) and only a few seconds to wake from sleep. Doesn't really both me considering I come from Windows where I would have to boot up every time I wanted to get on my laptop.

I'm still getting a few second freeze when it wakes up, the screen is on by the time the lid is open but keyboard and mouse a frozen for 5 seconds.

its petty i know but annoying still

I get this as well on my Air, but not on my MBP. It can be annoying, yes.

Has this issue still not been fixed?
Any 3rd part fixes out there in the wild?
Sigh,Just got a macbook air with high expectations.
My macbook pro wakes faster than this. :|

This. A thousand times, this.

How about being able to disable wake-on-open like on SL? The older terminal command no longer works on Lion.

Having opened a laptop bag only to find an almost dead battery and a surface of the sun temp inside due to the older MBA turning itself on in the bag makes me miss this option.

I've had this issue from day 1 with my MBA ( purchased Dec. 2010 ). Been trying to get it fixed, apple store has replaced the display, deleted a "sleep cache", etc. But it still exists. If you have the issue, I think you're stuck with it unfortunately.

Last time I was in ( a few hours ago ) they recommended a fresh OS install and I thought for a second I was in the Microsoft store. :)

Even tho this thread is a bit old, I feel like to put in my two cents, I have a 2008 MBA, with Lion 10.7.4. once the lid opens , it wake up with second!:)
